Good to know :

The weather in Geneva is usually superb for ballooning in September. Weather conditions are often alike an Indian summer. The winds are stable, normally south-west with clear nights.

In case of a South-West conditions the balloons have enough time to climb up on the necessary altitude to fly over the Alps in direction of Austria and Eastern Europe.
With North-East wind conditions, the balloons could fly over France in direction of Spain.
